Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun

The Ipoh Hospital Clinical Research Centre (HCRC Ipoh) headed by Dr Philip Rajanwas established in March 2001, and was renamed CRC Perak in 2007. In 2006, the office was relocated to the 4th floor of the Ambulatory Care Centre (ACC). Numerous facilities are made available at CRC Perak including a spacious reception area, sufficient office space for CRC staff and investigators, 1 archive library, 1 training room (maximum occupancy of 40), 2 meeting rooms (maximum occupancy of 10 per room) and a server room. CRC Perak also has an accessed-controlled clinical trial hub that consists of a consultation room for trial patients and a room for research equipment. CRC Perak is equipped sufficiently with a network server and workstations to support research within the Perak state.

Institut Kanser Negara (National Cancer Institute)

Institut Kanser Negara (National Cancer Institute) was established in September 2013 to address the needs of growing issues related to cancer in the country by providing specialized facilities and medical treatment for adult cancer patients. Clinical Research Centre (CRC) was later established on October 2014 to to promote, support and conduct quality and ethical clinical research and to provide support for research activities conducted within the institute. Clinical Investigation Center (CIC) was established in February, 1999 under the Dean’s Office, Faculty of Medicine. It was officially launched by Tan Sri Dato’ Dr. Haji Abdullah Sanusi Ahmad, Vice Chancellor, University of Malaya on 21st August 1999. It functions as a Clinical Trial Management Organization and a “one- stop” centre designed to facilitate the conduct of safe and credible clinical research by providing a unique collaboration of academic excellence and experience.

CIC also acts as a point of contact to access an integrated network of experienced clinical investigators as well as providing a large pool of potential research subjects including healthy volunteers from the institution. The roles of CIC encompass provision of human resource, finance management, liasing with Medical Ethics Commitee and other clinical services e.g. radiography, laboratory and pharmacy. Hospital Umum Sarawak

The Clinical Research Centre at Sarawak General Hospital (CRC SGH) was the third CRC established by the Ministry of Health (MOH) as part of the CRC network after the ones in Kuala Lumpur Hospital and Penang General Hospital. It was established with the aim to foster closer clinical research and cooperation at MOH hospitals in Malaysia by providing assistance in research proposals and writing, research funding and grant applications. The CRC-SGH also organises training workshops in biostatistics and research methodology and good clinical practice and assists in presentations at local and international scientific meetings. Following the increase in international multicentre clinical trials, especially in the fields of cardiovascular disease and oncology over the last five years, CRC-SGH improved its facilities and support services to strengthen the tradition of medical and epidemiological research in Sarawak.

CRC SGH Phase 1 Unit is an integrated facility with its own ward, pharmacy, procedure room, sample processing facility, clinical laboratory and a human physiological system testing assessment area (human cardiac/respiratory and neurology assessment). The unit is listed under the NPRA Phase 1 Accreditation programme. CRC SGH has a multidisciplinary team of research professionals who are trained and experienced in all aspects of clinical trial conduct in various therapeutic areas.

Hospital CRC for Hospital Sultanah Aminah Johor Bahru (HCRC_HSAJB) was established in 2007 within the network of CRCs in the Ministry of Health Malaysia. HCRC_HSAJB primarily functions to support and build research capacity among healthcare professionals within the state of Johor. In its duties, HCRC_HSAJB strives to promote the conduct of high quality and ethically responsible research that matters to patients in Hospital Sultanah Aminah.

From time to time, HCRC_HSAJB organizes professional development courses and assists clinicians in the conduct of their clinical research projects as well as provide guidance to new investigators and researchers on study design, methodology, protocol writing, manuscript preparation, and statistics consultation.
