Putrajaya Hospital (HPj) began construction in 1998 and commenced operations in phases on November 1, 2000. Initially, HPj had only 278 beds, but it has since expanded into a tertiary healthcare facility, now operating with 592 beds.
From its inception, the hospital was designed as a fully integrated information technology-based facility, utilizing the Total Hospital Information System (THIS). HPj has taken a step further by expanding several of its services beyond the hospital premises to enhance accessibility and strengthen public healthcare services.
These initiatives include the establishment of the Putrajaya Community Mental Health Center (MENTARI), followed by the opening of the Low-Risk Maternity Center – MAIWP in Precinct 8. Additionally, the Institute of Endocrine (IE) was established and began phased operations in June 2022. The IE serves as the national referral center for Endocrine Medicine, Endocrine Surgery, and Pediatric Endocrinology. The hospital also offers Neurosurgery services, among various other medical specialties.
