Hospital Ampang

CRC at Ampang Hospital was established in 2007 by Dato Dr Chang Kian Meng. The initial purpose of the establishment was to continue the clinical research of the Department of Haematology which started at Hospital Kuala Lumpur.
In early 2009, Dato Chang with Dr Lim Teck Onn, former director of the National Clinical Research Centre, drafted the establishment of The Phase 1 Research Centre at Level 7 of Hospital Ampang, now known as CTU (Clinical Trial Unit). The MOU between the National Clinical Research Centre and VEEDA was signed at the end of 2009. The first research was successfully carried out in 2012. Between 2012-2014, researchers and visitors from foreign countries such as Japan, Korea, France, Singapore, the United States had visited and audited the unit. To date, bioequivalence study figures have been increasing, 5 among which were carried out during the year. Among its latest clinical research is DNDi Hepatitis C study (Drug for Neglected Disease Initiative).
CRC Hospital Ampang continues to grow. Currently the CRC unit is headed by Dr Jerome Tan, Consultant Haematologist, and consists of 2 staffs of Hospital Ampang, 4 National CRC staffs and 7 Clinical Research Malaysia (CRM) staffs.
